Our supporters

Book Aid International relies on thousands of supporters to continue its work – from individuals generously giving a regular gift or fundraising through their friends and family to organisations in the corporate sector and trusts who sponsor large programmes. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supports our work.

Aside from donations of money, we are supported by the publishing industry who donate  the thousands of books we receive every year. This has meant that for the last two years (2014 and 2015) we have been able to send more than one million books to our library partners in Africa, benefiting up to 37 million readers every year. Find out more about our book donation programme here.

We cannot thank every donor individually here, but we would particularly like to acknowledge the following individuals and organisations. You can also find out more about how you can support Book Aid International in our Support us section.

"It is easy enough to spot a problem, the challenge lies in finding an appropriate solution. That there would be a serious shortage of books in schools and colleges in the English-speaking world immediately after the Second World War must have been evident to anyone who thought about such things. However, it was the Countess of Ranfurly who thought of a solution, put it into practice and made a huge success of it. The Ranfurly Library Service was founded in 1954 and became Book Aid International in 1994. Today, over 30 million books have been distributed to schools, colleges, community libraries, refugee camps and prisons across the world, and have touched the lives of an estimated 150 million readers of all ages."

"Book Aid International is a phenomenal organisation with the admirable ambition of bringing books to all. They shape people’s lives through the books they donate and the skills that those books give people."
