The books change lives 2008 online auction has now finished and raised a fantastic £2,360.

Book Aid International is delighted with the results of our first ever online auction. Celebrities, authors and politicians donated copies of their most inspiring book which they signed and inscribed. A number of prominent illustrators also donated original artwork to be auctioned.

Some of the most successful lots sold include a copy of Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky signed by Helen Mirren which sold for £160, and In the Blink of an Eye by Walter Murch signed and inscribed by Alan Rickman, sold for an amazing £377.65. Leader of the Conservative party, David Cameron, selected and signed Goodbye to All That by Robert Graves which sold for over £100 and illustrations by Nick Sharratt and Sian Bailey also both sold for over £100 each.

£2,360 was raised in total which will go towards supporting literacy development in sub-Saharan Africa.

Thanks to all who donated lots and to those who purchased them!
