Along with thousands of others, we at Book Aid International were incredibly moved by the wonderful and impassioned acceptance speech Doris Lessing composed for her Nobel Prize. We warmly congratulate her on her great achievement - one of the highest honours any author could hope for.

We are also delighted that in recognition of Doris Lessing's Nobel Prize in Literature, Victoria Barnsley, Chief Executive of HarperCollins UK, announced the donation of 10,000 books to Book Aid International for schools in Zimbabwe. The lack of books and educational resources in Zimbabwe formed the central theme of Ms Lessing's Nobel acceptance speech in which she spoke of a great hunger for books in Zimbabwe amid high levels of poverty.
Victoria Barnsley, CEO and Publisher, HarperCollins UK said:
“It is a great pleasure to join Doris Lessing in celebrating her remarkable contribution to literature and to congratulate her on becoming a Nobel Laureate. To mark this special occasion, we wanted to present Doris with something memorable. We hope that the donation will be a fitting tribute to her unique talent and passion and that the books will inspire Zimbabwean school children for generations to come."
