World Book Day 2007 took place on Thursday 1st March and schools have raised an amazing £50,000 to help readers in the developing world.

We can work together to solve the huge book shortages around the world. School fundraising events are a great way to help children abroad, and we can learn how people live around the world.
We all know the value of books, but the poorer a country is, the more important they become. Wherever resources are really scarce, books are the principal tools for learning. They can educate, stimulate the imagination and enable people to make choices in their lives.
