Punch Tavern, Fleet Street, London
Tuesday 25th September 2012
We held our 2nd annual quiz night at the Punch Tavern on Fleet Street in central London in celebration of International Literacy Month. Full to the rafters, and decked out in upcycled book bunting, the Tavern provided a perfect venue. And with 18 teams and six rounds of questions, we had a great night in store.
Quiz teams came from some of Book Aid International’s biggest book donors including Pearson, Hodder Education and Dorling Kindersley and others from companies who have become a regular fixture at our monthly volunteering evenings, like Ramblers and Clifford Chance.
It was also a great chance for our community ambassadors, staff past and present, and our individual supporters, to meet, compete and raise money for a great cause. Through quiz entry and raffle ticket sales, over £1,800 was raised towards our work.
Quiz champions were Grade Expectations, one of two teams from Hodder Education, whose members included So-Shan Au, Maddy Eames, Jon Heal, Jim Belben, Gavin Summers and Frances Aizlewood. As you can see, they were thrilled with their victory and cava!
All that’s left to say is a huge thank you to the Punch Tavern for hosting, and most importantly, to everyone who came, took part, and contributed to a great night. See you again next year!
