Silent Scribble auction

We’re thrilled to announce that our Silent Scribble auction raised over £2,000! A huge thank you to everyone who took the plunge and placed a bid. Your generous contributions will enable us to send many more brand new books to libraries in sub-Saharan Africa.

A couple of lots didn’t quite meet their reserve price, and we will be auctioning these on eBay in the next few days. Links to the site will be advertised on this page.

The Silent Scribble concept

We asked a selection of Britain’s best known authors and illustrators to do one of the hardest things a writer or artist can ever do – sit down in front of a blank piece of paper, and produce something wonderful. We gave them just a one-word brief: “Journeys”.

The resulting fifteen wonderful themed drawings, sketches, quotes and snippets form our World Book Night “Silent Scribble” auction.  We were delighted to receive contributions from Alan Bennett, Joanna Lumley, Joanna Trollope, Quentin Blake, Nick Sharratt (pictured) and many more wonderful authors and illustrators.
