“The books from Book Aid International are fantastic and have worked magic for Aduk.”
Over half of the donated books provided by Book Aid International in Cameroon are destined for primary and secondary-age children. In 2010 one remote high school in the north west of Cameroon was excited to receive just some of these books.
Aduk is in a remote village 20 km from the nearest town, Foundong. The roads to Aduk are not motorable and it takes 15 hours trekking to get to the village. When the Government High School in Aduk received their first consignment of Book Aid International books in March 2010 the school experienced a huge improvement in its academic performance, and the school is now ranked second among 50 secondary schools in the Division. The school principal told us of the impact the books had on both pupils and staff at the school:
“The books from Book Aid International are fantastic and have worked magic for Aduk. They have brought in an academic transformation and a change to the Government High School in Aduk. The teachers and students have now developed a new sense of consciousness and crave for excellence… You can see what the books have earned for us. I am a proud man.”- Peter Ayuk, School Principal
