Alison took up the role of Director of Book Aid International on 1 July 2012.
She has extensive experience of publishing in Africa after 20 years working for Macmillan Education in this area, as Publishing Director and then Curriculum Director.
Alison says “I feel very privileged to be joining Book Aid International and to be invited to bring my experience of publishing for African schools and colleges to their work. The support Book Aid International offers to libraries through generous book donations from UK publishers and through inspirational training programmes for librarians is unique. There are many challenges ahead, not least the implications of digital content delivery for a continent largely dependent on print and the ever-increasing need for books in all sectors of the community. However I believe these changes present real and exciting opportunities to develop innovative new programmes with Book Aid International’s wide network of partners in Africa. I am very much looking forward to working with the team on all these initiatives.”
